Twenty-four states, including Delaware, do not feature a process for citizen-led ballot initiatives. This means that a state legislator must sponsor a bill in order for it to be voted on to become law. This requires you to be in relationship with your state legislatures. Tonight, the U.S. Senate again allowed its Republican members to block legislation protecting Americans’ freedom to vote.Delaware Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons voted to advance the bill past the partisan roadblock – but the effort failed in the closely-divided chamber.
A statewide coalition of voting rights advocates held a virtual advocacy day in support of House Bill 75 (HB 75) and other legislative measures that would expand access to the ballot.
