LEARN HOW DEMOCRACY REFORMS CAN BECOME LAW IN ALABAMA
Twenty-four states, including Alabama, do not feature a process for citizen-led ballot initiatives. This means that a state legislator must sponsor a bill in order for it to be voted on to become law. This requires you to be in relationship with your state legislatures. Some tactics used in these states to pressure on them to act are community powered lobbying, marching, and nonviolent civil disobedience. LEARN MORE!

The right to vote and have our voices heard is fundamental to our democracy. Our democracy is stronger when every eligible American participates, confident that when they cast a vote that it will be counted as cast. Make sure you are registered to vote and know where your polling place is located!

Alabama’s congressional redistricting maps blocked: Federal judges seek more Black majority districts
The Alabama Legislature’s redistricting plan for 2022 will not take effect for congressional races after a panel of three federal court judges found the map dilutes the voting power of Black residents and blocked the proposal.
